Yes, the Vanguard Personal Pension can normally receive transfers of pension benefits from other UK registered pension schemes. If you hold Vanguard funds with your existing provider those can usually be transferred to us directly as units or shares (this is known as an in specie transfer).
If you are looking to transfer a pension from a final salary scheme worth more than £30,000, you'll have to have the transfer signed off by a qualified financial adviser before your pension scheme will release the money. Vanguard will also require your adviser to complete and sign our adviser declaration confirming that they have recommended the pension transfer. This regulatory requirement is there to protect you and make sure you're fully aware of what you're giving up.
We currently do not accept Recognised Overseas Pension Schemes.
Transferring existing pensions may not be suitable for everyone. As with all financial decisions there are important factors you need to consider. For further information please see our pensions transfers factsheet which provides some important information regarding why you may, or may not, wish to proceed with a pension transfer to Vanguard. We give information about our products and services. The only advice we give is low-cost, easy-to-access investment advice for retirement. Read the factsheet carefully and get financial advice from an authorised financial adviser if you’re in any doubt about transferring a pension.
