I want to withdraw tax-free cash from my pension before the Autumn Budget. When should I do it by?

We do not know what will be in the Autumn Budget on 26 November. Think carefully before making financial decisions based on speculation. Once you’ve completed a withdrawal you will not be able to cancel it.

If you want to withdraw tax-free cash from your pension before the Budget, it’s best to start the process as soon as possible.

If you have not taken any tax-free cash

If you have not taken any tax-free cash from your Vanguard Personal Pension before, the withdrawal process usually takes a few weeks. If you want us to process your tax-free payment before the Budget, you must complete the withdrawal process before 19 November as it will take our team time to finalise it.

The withdrawal process involves 2 phone appointments with our retirement consultants. The first is to submit your request and should be completed by 7 November. The second is to authorise your request. You can book your second appointment once we’ve given you your illustration. We’ll let you know by secure message when it’s available in the ‘Documents’ section of your account.

If you have already taken some tax-free cash

If you have already taken some tax-free cash from your Vanguard Personal Pension, and wish to take out more, you’ll need to book a phone appointment to authorise your withdrawal request. You’ll need to submit your request through your Vanguard account and have had your appointment by 19 November.

Once our team have finalised your request, the money will be in your bank account between 7 to 10 days

If you miss these deadlines, we cannot guarantee that we can process your request before the Budget.
