What happens to my investments when I die?

What happens to your investment depends on which type of account you hold them in.

Personal Pension

You can let us know who you'd like to leave your investment to by completing an 'expression of wish' and keeping it up to date. To add or change your beneficiaries, log in to your Vanguard account and follow these steps:

 1. Select 'My profile'.
 2. Go to 'Account settings'.
 3. Choose 'Manage beneficiaries'.

Stocks and Shares ISA, Junior ISA and General Account

While you cannot nominate a beneficiary for your Vanguard Stocks and Shares ISA, General Account or Junior ISA from within your online account, you can name your beneficiaries of your Vanguard accounts in your will.

It's important to appoint executors in your will and record who you would like your Vanguard accounts left to. That will make it easier for your loved ones when you die.
