We offer 4 types of accounts:
- Personal Pension
- Stocks and Shares ISA
- Junior ISA
- General Account
Before you start:
- you must be 18 years old
- you must be a UK resident or Crown employee serving overseas. If you live in the Channel Islands or Isle of Man, you cannot open an account

General Account or Stocks and Shares ISA
Information we ask for:
- name, address and mobile phone number
- date of birth
- debit card details (if you’re making a lump sum payment)
- bank account details (if you’re making a regular payment by Direct Debit)
- National Insurance number
If opening an ISA, you must not pay in more than the annual ISA allowance of £20,000.
Personal Pension
Information we ask for:
- name, address and mobile phone number
- date of birth
- debit card details (if you’re making a lump sum payment)
- bank account details (if you’re making a regular payment by Direct Debit)
- National Insurance number
- age you plan to retire
Junior ISA
Anyone who is a parent or legal guardian of a child and is a UK resident can open a Junior ISA account for their child. You cannot open a Junior ISA for your child if they already have a <Child Trust Fund account>
If you are the parent or Registered Contact for a child, you can open a Junior ISA within your existing Vanguard account, you will need to confirm you have parental responsibility.
Information we ask for:
- the child’s name
- the child’s date of birth
- the child’s address
- the child’s National Insurance number, if they have one

Choose which type of account.
Follow the steps in the application.
You will need to enter your personal Information:
name, address and mobile phone number
date of birth
debit card details (if you’re making a lump sum payment)
bank account details (if you’re making a regular payment by Direct Debit)
National Insurance number
If you already have an account with us
You can open and manage multiple Vanguard accounts using the same username and password. For example, if you already have a Stocks and Shares ISA you could open a Personal Pension using the same login details.
Log in to your account.
From the left-hand menu, choose 'Open new account'.
Select the account type you’d like to open and follow the on-screen instructions.
Paying into your account
You can either:
make a single payment of at least £500 with a debit card
set up a regular payment for at least £100 per month
transfer from another provider
pay by business debit card (pension only) - you must be a director or shareholder of a limited company
