There are several reasons this could have happened, such as:
the bank account details you provided did not match with your bank
there's not enough money in your account
the payment was higher than a Direct Debit limit you've set with your bank
your bank received a request to cancel the Direct Debit
the bank account has been closed or transferred to another bank
We start the process of taking your monthly contribution 8 business days before it is due. If your bank verification happened within this period, your contribution might not be collected. However, we’ll debit your contribution next month.
If the date of your monthly contribution falls on a weekend or bank holiday, the Direct Debit is collected on the next business day.
For ISA and Junior ISA contributions, payments are allocated to the tax year in which the collection is actually made. If your Direct Debit collection date falls on a non-business day at tax year end, we’ll collect the payment on the next business day. Your contribution is allocated to the tax year in which the payment is successfully collected.
