Can I pay by bank transfer to my Vanguard account?

Paying by debit card is the quickest way to pay into your account, but you can also pay by bank transfer too.

We accept a minimum payment of £50,000.

You can pay by transfer into a General Account or ISA, if you have sufficient flexible allowance.

For example, if you have £100,000 in your ISA account. You could withdraw £50,000. Then pay £50,000 back in by bank transfer without it affecting that year’s allowance.

To pay by bank transfer

  • Log in to your account.

  • From the left-hand menu, go to 'Payments'.

  • On the tab 'Money in', you will 'Single payments' towards the end of the page.

  • Choose 'Add cash'.

  • Put in the amount and choose Bank transfer from the Payment options.

When you choose this option, we will send you a secure message with our bank details and payment reference so you can make the payment to your Vanguard account.

Payments made by bank transfer can take up to 2 working days to clear.  Any buy orders can then be placed at the next trading point.

Be aware your bank may have set daily transfer limits on your account.

If your bank has applied daily limits of below £50,000 to your account, please do not send multiple small payments by bank transfer. Any payments below £50,000 should be made by debit card.

Payments must be made from a UK bank or building society account, and you must include your Vanguard account number when making the payment.
